There are so many fabulous resources for teaching kids about Jesus’ death and resurrection during the Easter season!
Depending on your family’s current season, you may have plenty of margin to explore lots of Easter crafts, activities, foods, object lessons and more with your kids.
Grab a copy of my free ebook, Teaching Kids About Jesus’ Death and Resurrection at Easter, for lots of ideas!
For our family, with three young children and twins due next month, simplicity is the name of the game this year.
Despite our family continuing to have a full schedule with work, school, and activities while I’m trying to also rest and allow these sweet babies to continue to grow and develop a few more weeks, we didn’t want to let the opportunity of teaching our kids about Jesus’ death and resurrection slip by.
We’ve narrowed down our purposeful (but not perfect!) activities for Easter this year to just a handful of simple ideas:
- Making resurrection rolls
- Reading the Easter Story Egg book with nesting eggs activity nightly starting on Palm Sunday with our oldest two children
- Reading the What is Easter? book to our 2 year old
- Watching and discussing the 5 Minute Easter Week Video Devotions for Kids from Jelly Telly nightly starting on Palm Sunday
If you’re like us and are just making it through the days in this season, I’d encourage you to choose at least one activity to focus on Jesus with your children this Easter.
The Jelly Telly 5 Minute Family Devotional Easter series is a great resource if you are looking for something simple or something that will guide you along during the week. Each video is just 2-3 minutes that you can watch as a family and includes a couple of questions to discuss and a guided prayer. On the website, you can find more in-depth scripture references and a daily downloadable coloring sheet.
